I was trying to install 2.1 on my new phone and when I went into download mode the first time it worked fine. But once I connected it to the computer it wouldn't do anything. I've read other people having this problem where the phone just sits there and the computer never says "Ready" or "Com Connected." This happened to me with the last Moment I had so I just unplugged the cable even though it said not to, but I figure over 5 minutes if plenty of time for it to do what it is supposed to do. With the last phone I unplugged and plugged it back and this worked. This time it looked like it was going to work too but when I went to put the phone in download mode again (vol. down button, camera button, end key) all it does is turn the phone on no matter what order I press the keys. I'm not going to bed until I get this crap figured out and working. So anyone know what I might could do? I tried resetting to the factory settings but didn't help. Open to suggestions.

Well I finally got it to install. It only took TWO HOURS!  Roll Eyes Guess I shouldn't be surprised though as much trouble as I've had in the 2 months I've had my THREE different Moment phones. I bet I took the battery out and put it back in and turned the phone on and off 30 times. Not to mention the number of times I uninstalled and re-installed the Samsung drivers. Guess I'll see how it goes from here...

Didn't make any sense to me either. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to it. It would go into download mode the first time like it was supposed to but when I had to take out the battery and put it back in to go to download mode the second time, the phone kept turning on instead. I had problems the first time I tried to update to 2.1 on the last Moment I had but nothing near this bad. So far seems to be working fine. Something interesting I noticed: All of the flashing attempts and the few apps I downloaded afterwards with Wi-Fi on naturally drained the battery quite a bit. It got down to the "yellow" mark (or orange, whatever) but I needed to use the alarm for this morning and didn't want to charge it again so soon but was afraid it would die and the alarm wouldn't go off this morning. So I turned the phone off for about 30 minutes at the most before I went to bed. Turned it on and battery indicator showed over half full. It has been on ever since and I've used the alarm, hitting snooze several times, and sent several texts. The indicator is still showing half full. So I guess that is a good sign (?) or maybe just a sign of how unpredictable this phone can still be...time will tell.

had the same kinda problem with mine. whenever i would flash my phone it would connect to the computer but then just not work. i never bothered taking the battery out the phone the second time i just kept clicking next till it came to the download screen. then it wouldnt just get stuck and it wouldnt upload. i would unplug it (like you) and then take the battery out, then plug it back in. when it said unplugged i would click ok, then go back into download mode, plug it back in, click the button again, unplug it, and if it didnt work that time, i would take the battery out again and go back to download mode then plug it in again. then it would work for me.

Looks like my happiness at getting it to work was short-lived. I just had another little rant in the "Android 2.1" section (there are too many sections on this forum, I never know where to post!). Having to reflash the phone again to see if I can fix the new problems I'm having with it. And of course it's not letting me get to download mode again. Just keeps turning the phone on. Over and over and over...

Make sure when going into download(or recovery) that the usb plug is NOT plugged in. This has caused me to think it was messed up before. Its usually the little things that get us. Hope you get it working again. Sorry for so many boards. We are working to get it reorganized for 2.1 and archiving the old 1.5 threads. Please bear with us during this time. We promice we wont get too mad for you posting in the wrong spot. We will just move it.

Yea my cable is always unplugged when I do that because that's what the instructions say. *Go to download mode and then plug it in.* Still have the same problems though. And I press the end key last too and it still almost always turns the phone on. I'm getting to where whenever I have to reflash my phone and it actually does go into download mode, it's only because I just happened to get lucky.
