yes it is the same as what you would have gotten from the Sprint store. yes they want everyone to the base of cl14...why not its better than cj05. and no it is not required. but even the rooting kernels have gone to cl14, so there is nothing holding us back from upgrading anymore.

I got the same text yesterday about it being required. The funny thing is I went to a Sprint store to get them to update it and they didn't want to. They said they killed three Moments that day with the update. They instead offered me a free second battery which is being shipped to my house. Of course I took it but I'll probably get another store to do the update. I'd rather them break it than me. Smiley

you are less likely to hurt your phone than any dumb sprint tech. I have flashed using it probably 15 or so times. even with unauthorized kernels and it still worked. so you are good to update. plus the battery life gets better afterword

I have 2 Samsung Moments, both purchased at the same time.  First one updated without a hitch.  Second one a brick after attempt to update.  Spent about 30 minutes on phone with Samsung Customer Service.  They're useless.

All I get on second phone is a white background with a message Cannot find JPG or PNG.  When the process is attempted again it fails to load the USB driver for the phone.

Not very  happy with Samsung at the moment.  No pun intended.

Anyone else have similar experience?

Followed the exact same steps (per instructions) for both phones.

UPDATE:  After uninstalling the SWUpdate on my PC 3 times and reinstalling it finally got it to go on the second phone.  Running Windows 7.  Not sure what the problem was.  Samsung Customer Service was obviously oblivious.

What if you have a Mac?  The download doesn't say that it supports Apple... only Windows.

Anyone have any ideas besides taking it to a Sprint retail location?
