Topic: Id like to know how to not have my text messages limited...  (Read 732 times)

i recently switched from a blackberry to the moment the only thing i dont like is how the text messages are limited to certin amout of characters then it goes to  like 2/2 and so on and if some1 sends me a longer text it comes in parts which are never in order like ill get 4/4 then 2/4 and this is a wayyy better phone than my curve other than this problem any suggestions

This is a problem with text messages, generally, not specific to the Moment. On the blackberry, were you using the Instant Messaging?

did you swtich from a different provider?
If im not mistaken the 145 characters is a CDMA limitation (its sprints fault)
As for getting them out of order, thats just a stroke of bad luck, the only reason i get anything out of order is if i am in bad service or roaming service

I was on the (idn) i guess its what it was called (i had a nextel/boostberry 8350i)

The BB/RIMM software allowed for unlimited characters of messaging. And yes, the character limitation is due to the (current) CDMA network. If I'm not mistaken, the BB/RIMM server(s) "mediate" between the Carrier(s) allowing for exceptions such as texting/messaging.

I am getting text messages out of order after I upgraded to 2.1.

the delivering of sms/mms has nothing to do with the software (android) but the provider (sprint/what ever carrier its being sent from)

There ARE other textmessage apps which allow for longer Texts. Search the market and/or the web...
