i know one of the big things we've been trying to do is the wifi tethering..

this however apparently causes the radio to lock up.

how similar would the radio be to the moto droid or the sprint hero?

i'm more curious about the hero....as it's also on 1.5.

would it be possible to rip the radio modem file from the hero and use it on the moment, since it seems to be more complete/stable?

IIRC, Samsung uses a totally different modem than those used by HTC and Motorola, and are driver-incompatible.

FWIW, I'd say the chances of our wifi problems being the radio driver are only around... say... 25%. Sure, the problem manifests itself there, but I think if we are careful, we can find a way to avoid tripping that particular issue.

you ever notice that sprint and verizon dont release the same android phones?

This is because if you were to flash the verizon modem to sprint, or vise versa, it would completely reprogram the stuff and switch carriers. It is not that hard actually, I can do it in CDMA Workshop or QPST.

I switched an alltel to sprint when my LG Lotus died, even called *2 on it, but they refused to activate it.

Verizon will activate almost anything, so if Verizon had a moment, we could flash then switch over. Sprint would not like that Tongue

haha, reminds me of my days of hacking the razr.  I was the coolest kid in school because not only did i have a Razr, but i had a hacked version which would let me use java apps, so i could play games and stuff on mine. The other verizon razr's had brew which sucked for games, speed, or the infamous 'Superbluetooth hack'.  Fun times. I would assume that the droid eris and hero use the same radio, but doubt that we'll find any samsung moments on verizon.  Sammy seems to like sprint.

lol. having second thoughts about dev-ing for the samsung side?  I do have to say that HTC does make very easily hackable devices, and samsung seems to see how hard they can make life on us.

Whichis amazing considering they don't even know what they are doing yet. That's why debug mode is on every release, thats why it took them until the broken CL14 to even make a custom logo (Samsung's next build will not have the android logo but some puke-blue samsung logo glow crap)
