I am assuming I have to be root to be able to do this?
No.. make sure odin 3.98 sees your device.. you are in downloader mode.. setup the tar (not the zip) as a one package and make sure one package is checked in odin..
Zefie.. Once i adb shell in, do i treat this as normal linux and just su rm app* to remove a specific application? when you do a temp root you dont need to sudo a rm command...

Furthermore, can you explain this "recovery" option a little more?

Sigh.. It has been explained multiple times.. but one more time..
With the phone off
Hold Volume down and the camera button then hit and hold the power button... you should go into a downloader mode..

no real driver tweaks except for sound, you are probably seeing it smoothly due to cpu tweaks Smiley

I tested a cpu clock program that required root and it seemed to work.. wish there was a hello world root app just to tell you if you have root access or not in the application

Zefie.. Any more info on the recovery part

root works, just depends on what. Like Root File Explorer sees it has root, and offers to remount, but cannot since it is looking for mtd devices.

and as for recovery, what info do you want? VolDown+Call+Power...
