Recovery?

Hey,

So I've had a moment for about a month and have been lurking here watching the progress.

I'm really glad we can get root now... the main goal now I guess is getting our own custom distribution on the phone.

I haven't really had time to investigate too deeply myself, but from what I understand ... the main issues are that the recovery bin has been modified by samsung, and the original filesystem on the device is some wacky Samsung proprietary crap.

I'm not sure how the recovery/boot/flashing process works ...  but if we have root, can't we just replace the recovery bin with our own? ... and then recover with a yaffs image?

I'd also be curious as to how the images with the Odin process are being check-summed/signed.  ie: Are they signed on the phone?  Where are the keys sitting?
