Don't know if this works on the original firmware as I never tried it, but when I tested aGPS on this firmware by turning it on and turning off GPS and checking google maps I got nothing. Then when I turned on WiFi and didn't connect to any of them I went back to google maps and immediately it located me. Now the location is less accurate than the GPS was giving so does this mean it is still not triangulating with the cell towers and somehow using whatever info it can get from those routers without being connected?

wierd, it seems after turning off the wifi ( i still have never connected to anything) i still get the 100meter location from the aGPS. So I think the aGPS is infact working now. I will reboot my phone and see if I have to enable the wifi again to get it working.

Please reboot and see if that helps.. Amazingly enough you still get information from WIFI signals even if you don't connect to them..
When you recieve the SSID (name of the network) you also recieve channel information and other stuff.. Some of this is network (of the router) location.. So even if you are not connected to the router, you still can recieve this information if the router is broadcasting it...

Like to point out in my custom ROM, there is a working recovery, this is important for both end users and hacking.

Hacking: Automatic root shell! Although you need adb linux since Sammy has ls --color on which dumps gibberish in Win32 CMD. Running ADB through Cygwin may work though, but I have not tried.

End user: Hard reset! Nuff said.

Is this the custom rom or is the custom rom something you are working on that is not released yet?

Just my ROM with the CL14 kernel. No custom roms until we figure out how to dump a flashable file...

it seems the agps does not work unless the wifi is enabled and it happens to pick up a signal from a wifi access point. so its pretty much useless when im on the freeway or something. bummer still no cell tower triangulation

aGPS is not the same as cell tower triangulation.. aGPS both the GPS reciever and the assisted portion to increase startup aquisition and lock...
http://www.samsungmomentforum.com/general-samsung-moment-discussion/before-you-complain-about-the-gps-know-what-is-going-on!/ I wrote a little blurp about it here...
For highway.. Triangulation and approximation are only good for applications like weather.. you do not have a good enough resolution for GPS tracking programs (better to use the actual gps reciever for these applications)
