Just saw it in PC Studio.  It downloaded the firmware, but wouldn't flash.  Stuck on "Step 2 Download" - "Unzipping binary file...".  PC Studio doesn't progress after that.  Although I do have the TAR file from the download, SPH-M900_CL14_MR.tar.  Took a look inside and it has a "recovery.rfs"!

Think this is safe to flash with ODIN and a modified OPS file?

Did Pcs say what was in the update?

I don't know much.  I know it is a Maintenance Release and I know it now contains a "Recovery" partition.  I can't get PCStudio to actually update it.  I'm debabting about modifying the OPS file to include the recover partition and flash using ODIN.

I doubt this is a 1.6/2.X update, but I hope it would include fixes for AGPS, Battery, Airplane Mode bug.  Plus the recovery partition which I assume would allow you to "hard reset".

I gave it a try, and might try a couple other things but I can't get it to flash.  This is what I got:

<1> Engine RUN!!!
<1> setup connection...
<1> odin mode.. check platform verification.
<1> START!!!
<1> odin mode.. do file mapping..
<1> e - unknown file - "bd30cb8b1ba65197c60d507d5624afef  SPH-M900_CL14_REL.tar
"
<1> check download environment.
<1> e - big partition size!!

Not sure if this has to do with the "checksum", but I know this is the file so "maybe" ODIN can't handle it or maybe I'm missing something.

Did you retar the file and accidentally include the original tar file inside the new tar file?

Looking at the files it looks like just the zImage is changed.  Need to extract the files in zImage see what's different.

I didn't untar/retar.  I just took the TAR that PCStudio downloaded.  Didn't check the differences on the individual files within the TAR, but there's a recovery.rfs now.

And on that note, I may have bricked my phone.  Trying to recover now...  Probably should have waited for the experts to look at it.  Angry

Interesting, maybe it is a checksum issue, although the error seems to relate to a large partition size..?

As to the brick you can still get into download mode right? That should be a failsafe.

Another fail safe would be to modify the odin files to not flash the boot loader, there is a post on it. If the boot loader is not being modified by the flash download mode should always be achievable, I'd recommend doing that before continuing messing with flashing Smiley

I can still get into Download mode.  I think I'm going to try reflashing the original firmware right now and see what happens.

I keep trying with the new firmware.  At first, I got the "big partition size" and then while "playing" with the OPS file it actually worked.  Well kinda worked.  ODIN said failed, but it kept downloading and I saw some text roll across the screen on the Moment.  Then it reboot and hung after the Samsung progress bar got to 100%.

glitch77 - Have you tried loading this?

In any case, I'm not having any luck getting either the original back on or the new one.  Either I get wierd non ASCII error in ODIN or it just doesn't start.

I can get to "Downloading..." but haven't had luck with ODIN.  Could be doing something wrong.

Tried using PC Studio to update and it errors out, and bricks the phone. (If we didn't have Odin.)

Reflashing back to stock with the stock .tar we allready have works fine.

What point does it error out at? I got to the updating device and at that point the phone resets. Unfortunately I wasn't able to try the update any farther then that because the Virtualbox USB hangs when I try to reconnect the phone to the VM. If only the New PC Studio software worked properly with Windows 7 x64.

Any ideas?  I'm trying to go back to the original firmware with the OPS/Firmware that you've been using.  I get this far:

Download Start...
<0> Create File...
<1> StartThread Detected : 1
<2> StartThread Detected : 0
<3> StartThread Detected : 0
<4> StartThread Detected : 0
<5> StartThread Detected : 0
<6> StartThread Detected : 0
<7> StartThread Detected : 0
<8> StartThread Detected : 0
<1> Begin Thread..
<1> Engine RUN!!!
<1> setup connection...
<1> odin mode.. check platform verification.
<1> START!!!
<1> odin mode.. do file mapping..
<1> check download environment.

From here ODIN clock just keeps ticking and nothing seems to happen.  I've let it sit for minutes.

I'm unfortunately in the same boat as krazy, decided to play with Odin, successfully flashed the update. Phone froze at progress bar, can't flash back to stock. Oops, should have read the post more carefully.

Good thing I'm within my 30 days for exchange and have insurance besides that as I think I will have to go to the sprint store and trade in my phone for a new one.

Long story short this "update" is bad news, should be avoided.
