I usually use my wireless connection at home and at work, so it took me a few days to actually notice this problem.  I had called Sprint to make an update to my profile and the profile was not automatically sync'd (I don't know if it ever does, but the lady on the phone certainly didn't tell me to do anything).  I tried clicking 'Update Profile' and rebooting after the phone call and it never updated.  I figured it would eventually work itself out.  However, it apparently didn't and I discovered my badly behaving phone when I was in the parking lot at the gym, with no wireless in sight.  I had no data connection.

When you are on wireless, you will normally see this:
Menu > Settings > About phone > Status > Mobile network state: Disconnected

When you turn off wireless, you will normally see this:
Menu > Settings > About phone > Status > Mobile network state: Connected

Mine was flashing between Connected/Disconnected (obviously, trying to make a connection and failing).

To solve this, I performed the following steps:

1) 'Menu > Settings > About phone > System Updates > Update PRL'
2) then, 'Update Profile'
3) then, 'Update PRL' again.

The data connection seemed to partially restore itself after step 2), but didn't really start working properly until I did step 3).  Maybe I didn't wait long enough for the connection to sync?  I'm not sure.  It certainly didn't hurt anything to do step 3) and my phone works like a champ again.

In case it matters, I'm running CL14 with ZE10.3.

I hope this helps someone else.

It might be interesting to note that there were some symptoms that I noticed, but I didn't pay close attention to:
1) Bloo, Gmail and Moxier updates would pop up as soon as I took the phone off standby (no syncing without wireless due to dead data connection)
2) App Alarm Pro was going off, but not actually successfully starting Pandora (probably due to other app notifications going off simultaneously -- I may have to contact the developer about that)

mvnic,

this has happened to me too...  i'm wondering if what we were doing beforehand had anything to do with it, or whether it's just random...  any thoughts?  thanks for the advice!

Well, it's interesting because the Sprint forum that clued me into the fix was talking about an incomplete CL14 flash, where the PRL update was not done.  However, I've never seen any instructions that say you're supposed to do the PRL update after flashing around here.  I truly believe my problems started happening after my profile was updated by Sprint.  Whatever causes the problem, I would try this first to help solve it.
