So maybe I am over looking something silly here.  I am already flashed to 08.2 and I am trying to flash to 08.3...When I am in Odin (I am detected, and I get all the way to Engine Run) I fail out every time.....I did read the first post, and made sure PC Studio wasn't running, it isn't, yet it keeps happening.  I can't remember if I did something else the first time I flashed, but I can't get past this.  Any ideas?  Thanks guys. pull the battery out of the phone and go back into Download mode. also you may need to restart your computer (make sure that pc studio doesnt try to run during start-up)

it almost sounds like the CPU is recognizing your phone as a drive, which is a step in the right direction.  On your phone, you should have a USB notification icon there and you can mount as a drive.  It says Insert Disk into Drive H when you haven't mounted from your phone...  which means part of the drivers are installed correctly.

Did you try Odin after that?

is everything checked correctly and pointed correctly (one package, moment.ops)?  did you uncompress the zipped file (not using winzip)?

not sure 8.3 does too much...  zefie restored adbd_recovery to initramfs (allows us to adb shell when /system is corrupted)

Sorry for the late reply guys Smiley

I tried pulling the battery and going back into DL mode a few times, as well as restarting and checking to make sure PC Studio wasn't running.  I also made sure I had everything checked correctly, and pointed in the right places, exactly like I did the first time.  I had a similarly tough time the first time, but I got it to catch a couple times for some reason lol.

I haven't tried a different USB Port since it wants to reinstall all the drivers and crap again and I didn't want to deal with it.  I am running Win7 Ultimate 64bit.  I am not needing to flash immediately, like all of you though I am curious and interested in the newest LOL....I will try a diff USB Port and see, but probably tomorro as it's beddy time for me, gotta be up tot each the youth in the AM Smiley

Thanks for the help and I will give ya some cookies to munch on tomorrow when I am not dead tired......Thank you very much for the help  Kiss

Fun fun fun!!! /sarcasm.

I am getting heartburn trying to root this phone. I followed all of the steps, but when I start Odin, as an admin, it gives me this.
Code:
Download Start...
<0> Create File...
<1> StartThread Detected : 1
<2> StartThread Detected : 0
<3> StartThread Detected : 0
<4> StartThread Detected : 0
<5> StartThread Detected : 0
<6> StartThread Detected : 0
<7> StartThread Detected : 0
<8> StartThread Detected : 0
<1> Begin Thread..
<1> Engine RUN!!!
<1> e - dll cannot open the usb serial port. code: 87

It's Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit, on a Lenovo Laptop.

Roger that.

I'll report back with my findings.

EDIT: After multiple reboots and reconnects of teh device and the pc, it is still failing. It can't seem to communicate past the detection stage. I have used all three of the ODINs that came in the zip, but to no avail. Am I better off doing this in Windows XP?

EDIT Numero Zwei:
Does my Android have to be rooted before I can use connect bot or SDK to remove apps? Edit: nevermind, found the answer to this on the Moment Wiki.

I started with SDK, but it cannot find the device, and in the Connect Bot, I open the terminal to start a local session, and it won't allow me to get into the super user. I tried both SU and Sudo, but it says command not found. I consider myself a pretty technical guy and this is maddening for me.

Edit, Edit, Edit: okay, I think I found the issue was with Google Chrome being open. Rebooted everything one last time and now ODIN hasn't errored out... YET.

It is currently at the step Set Up Connection, and as of this edit, it has been doing so for 9 mins and 30 secons. Is this normal?

Thanks for the help in advance and cookies for all!!

nope not normal....it shouldnt take more than a minute really to do the flash, and then you phone should reboot on its own......if it gets stuck like that pull the battery and try again

I kind of figured. I wasn't sure as Crackberries take about 45 mins to load.

Well, after doing 5 battery pulls and reboots of windows, I got it done! Yay!

Thanks for the help guys.
