i can mount it just fine with the debugging off but im wondering if the debugging has something to do with getting root on the phone.

Nope. Just with debugging programs and using ADB. (which i suppose might be helpful in the future, but atm it's useless for rooting).   Sad

lame! i have been drooling on my moment for some time now i would love to got some custom UIs put on it.  I ghave been a computer geek/tech/nerd my whole life this is my frist pda/smart phone and its a whole new area for me.  So i would have now idea where to even start looking for root on the phone. but more then happy to test.
