probably 10.3 would be your best bet. but what type of issues downloading are you having.

Actually it seems to have developed.  Every time I go to the recovery console regardless of kernel version, i get

E: can't mount  /dev/st17
(invalid argument)
E:\Can't mount  CACHE:recovery/log

So I'm not sure what I need to do to get it back up and running, I was downloading the stock cl14 I was gonna try that and see what happened.  Dunno what, if anything, that will do.

To clarify I mean whenever I try to do a function in the recovery console, I get that string of errors.

I did not, is that the problem, the datatool in the recovery console is corrupt?  All my personal data is stored other places, not sure if that has something to do with it.

your /data is corrupted and likely so is your /cache. I'd reflash a clean install.

well according to our diagram, /dev/stl7 is your cache partition. never seen an issue with it not mounting which either means it doesnt have the correct permissions, or as zefie said, the data is corrupt.
the best method would be to have it cleaned off and reformatted through a fresh install of the CL14 stock system using the sprint updater tool. there is a guide here, i used and it worked great.
good luck and let us know how it turns out!

i've had a similar problem, the weird thing is that when I restore the latest datatool backup I am not able to install any apks from my sd card

also the market gives me a "download unsuccessful" error

I tried installing apks from adb but I can't remember the error it gives me.....

I also tried through the recovery mode "install .zip" but it also give me an error...I can't remember what it said though...

the funny thing is that when I restore a backup from a week ago...everything seems fine....apps install and so forth...

i didn't uninstall any major stock programs from the phone...aside from bejeweled, amazon etc.

I know I'm probably not providing enough info but any ideas?

I guess I'll probably just restore the backup from a week  ago and reinstall all the apps that I got over that week :S

I did a the samsung cl14 installer to do a complete factory wipe.  Then I flashed cjo5 then flashed cl14 stock fixed with cjo5 sbl then flashed to joey's kernal 1.5 and things seem to be back up and running normally.  Hope that helps

if you're looking for backup/restore for /data and /system, maxdamage2122 just released recovery 2.0 which is designed exclusively to support CL14 SBL!
in order to run this you'll want to follow this guide to flash the "official" cl14 update from sprint with the sprint update tool, then flash joeykrim-SDX kernel (bml4) and then flash maxdamage's recovery kernel (bml8).

its a beautiful setup, i just loaded it!

I corrected all this last night by doing a factory wipe using the sprint update tool, then did cjo5 then did the cl14 with cjo5 and just flashed to your kernel a few minutes ago, 1.6.  I like bouncing between your's and Zeifie's but the new process for Zefie's is something I don't have time for currently.  Keep up the good work on both kernel's as I think it's important to have multiple heads working on this.  You guys rock.  Thanks

max, with his spite against me, rendered all existing datatool backups unseeable in his recovery. ZE14.1 incorporates his recovery as well as an updated datatool. Future backups will be in max format, and you can even convert to his format with "datatool convert"

Or if you are on and older ZE like 13.3, you can manually rename the file to match the new format for use with the ZE kernels, either mounting and rename or command line via connectbot, etc.
It looks for:
data_backup_

SO I just renamed to data_backup_100302012533.tar and it worked like a charm.
