You all need to know that the phone lasts a long time on a single charger. Way longer than the Sprint HTC Hero I played with for a month before I got the Moment.

My moment lasts almost the entire day (7 am to 12am) on a single charge. But, around noon the battery turns yellow, and then red by 4pm. The charge reporting in incorrect and the phone lasts longer than it says it does.

let us get real.
for some of us the battery life is fine..for some not.
To say one person's phone lasts all day....is like asking someone if they get good gas milage and they reply oh yes....i only fill my tank up once a week.  Now...what does that mean..you still do not know their gas milage.
I personally can only relate to my past phone and how i used them....an this phone does not come close.
I am not too upset over it....since i do use a car charger....and if i like to continue with the Android OS....then this phone is only temporary...I know better phones will be out soon with more than just better battery life....Android is very new...but appears to be growing fast.
This phone does burn up lots of juice....Period.    It would be nice if the after market had a larger amp hr battery to replace the one with the phone.  Not sure if i would buy one...since i cannot wait for a better phone.  good luck to all...and have a happy and healthy new year...take care

in all honesty, you're right, the battery doesn't last as long as my eternity's battery, but did my eternity do everything that the moment does?  NOT EVEN CLOSE!

i could charge my eternity on a monday and not have to charge it till friday night...  the moment has to be charged nightly with the same usage...

yes...I am paying for the new technology of having a phone that does  a lot and will do a lot more.  The system is young and will get better...I am sure they hear the complaints/comments and the makers do want to sell more phones...so they must improve.  However sadly when we are with one carrier we have to hope they get the best phones.  In my opinion having the Android system will keep up on the leading edge. ( i hope ) and when we get the 2.0 or better...i hope that improves things as well..thank you all...These forums are so important...Cannot always get the right information from the makers or the carriers...so it is us here that find the way for each other...Thank you all and have a happy and healthy new year.. Stay well...( I need all the help i can get )

Another case of a sprint rep trying to sell a phone to people who shouldn't own one. 1. The battery issue has been discussed...especially all over the internet. People do say that the apps come back on but that is NOT Samsung's Fault. That is google/developers fault. One sprint rep told me about it but he said some apps have OPTIONS/SETTINGS to turn off the feature that makes it auto boot. 2. You cant expect Samsung to test 3rd party developer apps to make sure they dont drain the battery. 3. I can tell some of you that are complaining haven't PUSHED your phone past the 15% mark to see how long it would last. If you did you would notice that its not the battery that is at fault but the software in which tells you how much battery is left...it happens in phones.

Wait for the update to fix it. 4. I would rather have a phone that tells me that I have a low battery and last over an hour past that mark....AND be able to do more then the original M800 Instinct/Instinct S30 could ever DREAM of doing...let alone twice as fast with no lag. These complaints are very small in comparison. I owned my original instinct for over a year and I didn't start having major mechanical problems with it till the screen stopped responding...and I got a refurbished. THEN the screen went bad on that phone then I got it repaired again.

Also keep in mind, would you rather have a phone that forgets how much battery is left or a phone that gets dust under the screen? I even read someone comment about how AMOLED has a shelf life of 18-24 months (comment on outside review/comments section). Who cares? Who buys a 180 dollar phone without insurance on it anyway? I had insurance on my Instinct from August of 08-November of 09 and didn't use the insurance..and Im glad I decided to keep it because the screen went bad twice in a total of one month. I only paid 100 for the instinct. I'm sure someone has or will make an app that controls what starts up on boot and stop from reloading.

To the person who claims a sprint rep told them that they were considering pulling the moment off the shelves was probably just trying to appease you because you were upset. EVERY rep who ever asked me if I needed a phone and asked which phone I wanted and I replied "The Moment" they all said that it is a "beast", or "that sucker is fast" or "best phone we carry" or whatever they say...more comments then that...even Best Buy Cell Dept reps said the moment is the best phone sprint has overall. Just thought I'd throw my dollars worth in.

Well, I do beleive that OEM apps come up and kill the battery sooner that it should.  However, after about 3 weeks of full charges / full drains, the battery life improved noticeably.  Then, by using TaskPanel, I put some of the Sprint's OEM applications in the "Auto Kill List" (like NFL Mobile, Nascar, and Moxier mail since I don't use any Exchange e-mail account), and the battery do lasts easily a little less than a day and a half.  And I do use my phone a lot, from shopping with Shop Savvy; gaming; IM, SMS, browsing; calling, etc.

Right now, I definitely notice that there is a battery metering issue instead of a battery life issue because my Moment's battery do last a lot more than what it used to last the first 2-3 weeks.

About the SD being blocked by the battery, I definitely feel the design is not good, however, I haven't have to remove the card since the moment I installed a 16GB card.
Right now, I'm very happy with the Moment; XviD movies play flawlessly, games give me hours of fun; applications are very helpful, browser experience is the smoothest I've experienced on a mobile phone, and the OS feels very snappy on this hardware.

Sorry to hear that the Moment has given you so much headaches. I hope you do find a phone that better suit your needs.

Hey Balian. Glad to see you found happiness it appears with the moment. I remember you from the instinct forum. This is definetly better than the original instinct and I had the same issue you did finally. The screen was the only thing to ever go bad for me. This phone has plenty of more options and the battery life is fine. I liked the Instinct had the side loaded sd card slot but I haven't removed my 8gb card yet though I intend onwiating for the 32 to come out. 16 is nice but i only have half of my music and favortie movies on this card and it is full now. By the way. the battery widgets and task killers seem to be the downfall of battery life on most phones i have seen. I also get about a day and a half and i run music and I heart radio in the mroning and at night on the way home from work 40 mins each way. I also talk for atleast 1 hr on breaks and lunch through the day all while messaging and checking email. Pretty steady usage. I also have a car charger and usb cable at work as well as the ac charger at home. I am covered should it perfom as it did the first few days. I can only say i am glad to be one of the lucky ones that battery conditioning worked for.

re the 16gb card you have and are happy with....can you tell me which card you are using...I understand that there are different speeds like a class 2 or a class 6. I would like to get one as well...and hopefully the right one.  thank you for the information.  Have a happy and healthy new year

Let me also remind you that even though Micro SDHC is Flash memory...unplugging it while your phone is USING any file on the memory card can cause a corrupt card. Maybe this is why so many smart phones require you to turn off the phone first...so they KNOW you wont jack up your own card then blame it on their phones and bring it back to the store!
