My moment all of a sudden would not charge and the battery use sucked anyway, so i took it to best buy because i had purchased the phone there and their insurance.  the geek squad has had my moments for almost three weeks now and no word on when it will be fixed. i contacted them and they said it may take a month.  i would never recommend anyone taking their phone to best buy to have them fix it. i will never do that again. anyone else dealt with besy buy geek squad

why would you buy a phone from best buy?

most everyone who knows how to perform general preventative maintenance on their pc's also knows that geek $quad should be avoided at all costs for everything.

Yeah... Geek Squad is horrible. What could they possibly be working on a phone for 1.5 months on...

sorry about your luck

I had the Geek Squad Black Tie Protection on my Instinct and I actually liked it a lot.  Basically, (as was my case) if they can't repair it, they just replace it with a new one.  Sure it may take a bit long, but personally, I'd rather do that than pay Sprint a deductible on top of their monthly fee for insurance.

That said, Geek Squad does suck.  But in the future use that to your advantage: if your phone breaks, break it further (i.e. beyond repair) and just get a brand new one.

On a semi-related note, I worked at Best Buy (in their Mobile Department no less) for about a month and all they did was fawn over the HTC Hero and the Motorola Droid.  They were pretty awful.

make sure you never let Sprint swap your phone, the warranty you got from best buy is tied to that MEID. When I used to work on the retail side of the house, customers would bring in phones to be replaced, and then when then went to WorstBuy to use their warranty on the replacement handset that we gave them, they were told that the warranty is now null and void because they exchanged @ the sprint store. Ultimately, the customer would return to the store bitching up a storm because they never told us they had an additional warranty, knowing we would send them up to best buy, but they didnt want to wait months to get their phone fixed.

Long story short...I would never buy a handset from BestBuy, and If Circuit City hadn't closed, i wouldn't buy anything else there either, they suck

I always buy my phones at best buy because of the fact the rebates there are instant, but i would never buy insurance from bestbuy i always get my insurance threw sprint(asurion).

i have always had sprints insurance from back in nextel days, but when the deductible jumped to $150 on the moment last year i decided to get bb's $10 a month....well that turned out to be a huge mistake and now i am going to work on getting that money back and sign up to sprints open enrollment this month

agreed sprint has been great, i just wasnt happy with the teir 2 deductible being $150.....and also the monthly fee has double since my old nextels

but lesson learned, either i will be getting a full refund on the "black tie protection" about $45 so far or i will get a new moment in store without sending mine out again

they will not give you a new one, it states in the contract that they have to try and fix it first, i will just take mine to the sprint store first next time.

I'm beginning to wonder if a person wouldn't be just as well off not buying insurance or a protection plan and just buying a phone straight from ebay or amazon if it ever needs to be replaced. Would a Sprint store "recognize" or honor a phone bought that way? Meaning would they transfer your info from the old phone to the new one if it was bought at one of those places?
