Has anyone had a problem with the battery life? I know I've been playing with the phone often but my battery doesn't last an entire day. I have even let the battery completely die before recharging it to see if it makes a difference but it doesn't. While on the charger it says it's fully charged and as soon as I take it off the charger is says it's at 80%.

Anyone else having this problem or does anyone have a solution?

Thanks!

theres a discussion on this over @ samsungmomentforum.com also, and so far it looks like the 80% might be a glitch....also once the phone gets to 5% and telling you to charge it seems to last for quite awhile longer. i can make it an 8 hour day but id rather have my phone charged through the evening so i usually have it plugged in before i leave work.

no fix so far but im guessing it's being worked on by samsung already

I've only had my Moment for a few days but I must say the battery life is significantly inadequate. I just replaced an Instinct and the battery on that phone would last two days, with no problem. With the Moment, towards the end of the 8 hour work day I am running out to the car to put on the car charger. I properly charged, discharged, charged the battery to condition it. Very disappointed in the battery life. BTW, it's 11:20AM and half dead already.

one thing that you need to check is whether you have programs running in the background...  since the moment is capable of multitasking - a lot of programs are left open and running in the background (browser, gmap, navigation, etc).  install a task killer (i used advanced task killer) and close out those programs when you're done.  the first day i got the moment, it lasted like half a day...  mostly due to programs running in the background.  also, grab a bluetooth on/off switch to put on your homepage...  all those help improve battery life dramatically.

and as yourmom says - there's currently a quirk with the battery where it doesn't accurately display the % remaining correctly.

its been 5 days and i finally am not sitting on my phone for 8 straight hours while @ work Wink but anyway today with normal use, last.fm in the am for about 20 mins, some txt'ng throught the day and then an hour phone call @ lunch, facebook updates and browsing my phone was still @ 35% @ 6pm so id say the battery life is great under NORMAL use not extensive like im sure all of have been.

i still plan to buy a second battery but the battery life is perfectly fine imho

p.s. the battery charge read 100% this a.m. for about 20 minutes but hey it did it

Nice. This is exactly what I've been experiencing as well. A tad surprising that the device would be released with such a glaring error. Can you link the exact forum post?

Samsung is getting pretty notorious for releasing buggy phones. Smiley

I went from full charge to 5% in about two hours of very heavy use this morning. Then it lasted for another three hours of heavy use before it finally shut off. Gotta love it.

I think this whole battery issue came about prematurely....basically we all needed to condition our batteries and things would be fine. I still plan to purchase a second battery just because the instinct spoiled me but I think the battery in the moment is very good.

multiple ways but my preference : tap menu from home screen > settings > about phone > status > battery level

Thanks! I also downloaded a couple battery widgets, but I can't seem to get my phone charged to 100%. Anyone else have this problem?

I was at 80% and the moment I plugged in the charger, it went to 90% but it won't charge past that.

This seems to be more of a software issue than hardware. In my own experience, the moment actually has a much better battery life than it claims to. It doesn't take long for the battery gauge to drop down below 50%, but i managed a three hour long conversation after my phone was saying it was at 40%... and it didn't die. So the stats are wrong. It will last a long time between 40% and 0%.

Hopefully this gets fixed so we have a better idea of how much life we actually have remaining, but if not, at least it really does last well.

Also, MAKE SURE TO INSTALL "Advanced Task Killer" and run this regularly. Otherwise all the background processes WILL drain your battery.

Purchased a Moment last Tuesday.  I charged it overnite and it said 100% at 8am. By noon it was down to 50%. It died completely at 9pm...as in, it wouldn't even turn on after I had plugged it into the charger until about 10 minutes had passed. I have since downloaded some 1 click widgets for bluetooth and wifi ( I turned off GPS completely) but, why have something on a device if you can't really have it ready for you to use. Over the weekend I purchased an app called 'power manager' which is supposed to handle the turning on and off of these things based on how much charge is left, etc. I'm evaluating it now. I already notified the
Sprint agent I worked with that I may return this phone...we'll see. What I DO know is that I too had a WINMO phone and it held a charge all day no matter what I did and I never had to turn off bluetooth or wifi (HTC Touch Pro). I love the display on this phone and am getting used to Android.  I must say I was surprised that I had to 'mount' the SD card to get it to be recognized by my computer and then unmount it after I was through. I hadn't see that since my 'long ago flirtation' with Linux which I had mistakenly assumed had gotten past that.

I'm also a liittle more concerned that they have already announced that the HTC Hero will be upgraded to Android 2.0, probably in Q1 of 2010 but nothing has been said of the Moment. The main reason I chose the Moment over the 'Hero' was I figured that a 'vanilla' implementation of Android would require less programminng modification from the manufacturer.

Bottom line...for me all the 'smartphone. services and apps are great and very appealing to the 'geek' in me but for my profession I simply CANNOT be unavailable as to actual cell phone calls (my cell phone, whatever it is, is never turned off)! I have to be able to be reached 24/7.  I may yet keep it (if I purchase a couple more batteries and chargers). At this time it's  a 50-50 chance either way.
