Why wouldn't the FCC allow it? The FCC isn't against wimax and these towers have to be built somewhere.

sorry that was just my opinion....has not merit what so ever, but i just think that would be too much of a monopoly that the other carriers would be against

Just think of the possibilities.... that would be wimax covering places where people haven't even heard of the internet yet. Hahaha.

yourmom: yeah it would be a monopoly, but sprint is the only one with any WiMax technology at the moment. They helped get WiMax up and running... only makes sense that they get the monopoly on it. It's like nextel with PushToTalk.

Philly is already wimax covered by Clear. The towers gotta be somewhere.

Anyone tried 4g wimax yet? Is it all its talked up to be?  Clear is running a campaign where u can get home and mobile for $55 a month for life. I am tempted. But I want to see if its worth it yet.

clear is majority owned by sprint.

Their speeds are pretty impressive.. i tested an aircard in portland oregon and it did pretty dang well. Then again, i can stream netflix and runescape at the same time through my moment's 3g connection so 4g will be way sweet.

One of the Android websites and I can't remember which one, just ran a statistical study on 4g versus T-Mo's new high speed.  They said that Sprint's 4g beat T-Mo in everyway.  Also Sprint advertises 4g at speeds up to 10mbps, but the testing showed it to have a maximum of something like 5.8mbps.  So although its not what Sprint advertised, thats still pretty dang fast!
