I am probably going to be getting this phone in the next week or so but i have my speculations. Huh

First off, im on the edge about getting the moment or the hero, but im leaning towards the moment because the instinct turned me off of texting with a full touch screen. Obviously you all chose the moment but what was your deciding factors.

Secondly, when i did buy the original instinct it wasn't even a month later when sprint announced the new s30. Does anyone foresee this happening with the Moment? I dont want to buy this and a few weeks later find out its already outdated.

Thanks in advance for your help! Grin

There is a rumor of a second Moment for 2010.  The s30 was not an improvement on the Instinct except looks.  In fact it was a downgrade for data as it only had the EDVO O not EDVO A chip.

Back to the Moment.  The rumored 910 is just a entry in Sprints computer for future phones.  It may or may not turn up this year.  It may or may not be the next Moment.  Hell it may just be a touch only Moment (no slide out keyboard).  Just rely on the fact that there are no leaked pics or definative proof of what it is/will be so it wont be soon.

it was outdated before it was released...thats technology, you can continue to wait all your life or bite the bullet

heck the nexus one is outdated, snap dragon already has a 1.5ghz cpu

well let me help you. my 1st touch screen was the 1st gen instinct and ohhhhh what a piece of crap that was. but it made me fall in love with touch screens so for that im thankful. my girlfriend needed a new phone and she was like "No way in hell im getting a friggen touch screen" due to the fact i bitched soooo much about my instinct. well she ended up getting a curve. 5 months later she LOVES the curve and its time for me to get a new phone. what do you think she said when i was thinking of the Hero or Moment? if you guessed she said "hell no im not listning to you bitch about another crappy touch screen again" then you guessed right. but i went with the moment and LOVE it. the key board is nice and smooth, the touch screen is nice and responsive and its an all around nice phone. im waiting on the fix for the battery life to get to my area and im set. its very true about technology....its out dated as soon as you open the box. but you will not regret the moment. hope this helps ya.

The Moment is the best of both worlds.  You can use the touch screen for a while then when you need to blast out a text, slide the keyboard out.  There is also the track pad, which is useful for some.

the moment definitely isn't ready for public release.  hence why we have zefie's custom kernels and CL14.  android 1.5 isn't even really compatible with CDMA without some hacking (thank you samsung).  android 2.1 will be a huge improvement in a few months when it's released.

Thanks all for your quick responses. Im most definitely going with the moment i just wanted some others opinions. I definitely think that ill be rooting the phone soon after i get it and probably putting the heros keyboard interface onto it. Also when 2.1 comes out will the moments touch screen be as responsive as the hero's multi-touch, or is that a hardware thing that cant be changed?

The moment will have multi-touch in "some" apps with 2.1.
The hero has multitouch (including pinch-zoom) in the Sense overlay.

Not sure by what you mean responsive as the Hero.  From my experience the Heros was way laggy compared to our Moments now.

My famly has a Moment a Droid and an Eris. Altho the Eris is dainty it is also very anoying to use the software keyboard doesnt work that well and its sluglish plus the sense ui makes the phone more anoying to use by adding more taps to get to the same functions its only plus is 7 home screens. The droid has a few of the same issues. It is laggy is keyboard is dificult to use because of lack of deffinition between the keys and also being smaller. It's good points are the bigger screen and it's running 2.0. The moment has a good hardware keyboard a decent processer and a track pad that cant get gooped up like a trackball can. its downfall is that the software is very buggy still. As everyone keeps saying it took huge hacks to get 1.5 working for cdma. The important thing to rember is that software can be fixed to work right hardware can't. I feel that other than screen size (and rember the moment is using amoled for its screen which is better looking) the moment is the best phone out there untill they put a hadware keyboard on the nexus1.
