Hello....Newbie here, making a giant leap for mankind. I am leaving Nextel after a century and in the process of getting the Moment for me and a Blackberry for my wife. already I can see the value of this group. Smartphones will be new to me. I have had a military standard phone forever. Yes the first thing I will do is get a protective case... Thanks in advance for your help as I know I will need it!

Nextel is more for businesses i would say, constuction, etc... i know the lady at the store told me, it does not run on what Sprint does if i had a Nextel phone. different towers and so on

Thanks! I have already checked it out. I didn't get far. I downloaded the bar code scanner thing but I couldn't get it to scan anything. Do you need to have service in order for it to scan? I live in a pretty rural area and my service is very hit and miss when I am in my house.

Yes.  You have to have service for it to work.

My Instinct gave me nothing but problems. The rep at my local Sprint store told me they have had a number of complaints about the Instict. But I had the older instinct (the pink one). I LOVED the phone, but it froze up regularly and in the middle of Manhattan I couldn't get a signal. The Moment is proving to be a MUCH better phone and I can't wait to see what it can really do once I figure out how to utilize all of it's capabilities!

hi!  My name is Lauren.  I just purchased my Moment a few days ago, and I'm already in love with this phone!  I actually went to Sprint to get the Palm Pixi, as I'm so used to Palm's... but as soon as I started playing with the Moment, I knew that I would be moving on to greater things!  I still have a lot to figure out, and I'm excited to have found this forum to help me find the answers I need.

Welcome to the site Lauren.  I think you made a much better choice than the Pixi. Wink
Have you checked out the the getting started guide?

There are several battery widgets in the app market.  I know this will sound strange, but type "battery" into a search on the market.  It will actually bring up apps related to the battery.  Also, this is an introduction thread.  Please stop asking off topic questions.
