I just can not think of anything that should be causing you this issue.
You may want to create a data tools backup and then reset your phone to CL14_stock_fixed_with_cjo5_sbl.tar
Then flash your chosen kernel
Before you restore your data tools try to update.zip the cl14 template.zip(remember to clear dalvik cache)
if you are able to boot back into android after applying the template you are good to go to continue with your theme update (also be sure to clear the dalvik cache again before applying it)
Good luck

First off I would like to thank you for your help. I finaly got it. I feel like an idiot now but ok. My whole problem was is I kept flashing back to the stock kernel then ze12.1. When I should of been flashing to the cl14 stock fixed 1st then ze12.1. Should've put 2 and 2 together, but oh well I got it with your help of coarse. Guess I wasn't as good at following instructions as i thought. I must of tried a dozen times, reflashing it each time with cj05. Hope there isn't a limit on reflashing your phone. To be quite honest after using the cl14 with cjo5 sbl this was really simple. Now all's I gotta do is figure out the adb shell thing and I'll feel a little smarter yet

I can't thank you enough,

travis

Right, so I will just insert my foot right into my mouth. This is why I don't touch technical stuff often.

Before I attempt to install/create/use non-home replacement apps (pandahome etc.), is the prerequisite for installing this .zip dependent upon a ZE Kernel? Can I use the speedrabbit/joeykrim kernel (latest) without having to flash back to any stock kernels etc?
