Separate Text, Ringer sounds for single contacts.

i'm not sure if there is, but i have heard of some phones being able to add a custom ringtone for a specific contact for when they send texts as well as if they call.

just to be understood, for example:
Charles has a custom ringtone as, we'll say, "baby one more time" (LOL)
is there a way to have a custom TEXT tone, for his name as well?

maybe i'm just mistaken on if that was even possible, but i'd love if it was!

I have reread your OP...I think that is a good idea btw. Dunno if it will work but try the link below for a sms/mms app and assign the custom tone for the contact. Let us know please if it works out.

I just posted about this last week and figured it out. I don't think handcent will let you do that, but maybe I'm wrong.  I downloaded ringo lite from the Market (free), and this program lets you separate for individual texts, etc.

As everyone says, Handcent SMS gives you to the option to customize individual text notifications for your various contacts. You can even set the vibration patterns so that you know who is texting you based on the length and number of times your phone vibrates. It's good stuff.
