The first time I plugged the phone into the computer it recognized it as ANDROID but prompted for software. I finally just clicked finish. One thing I noticed was that there was a check box for "don't prompt again" and it was checked. Did I do something wrong? Thanks!

i think you are fine. your phone was probably trying to install the drives. something you will want to do at some point. There is a manual way to do this. you will have to search around on how tho, because i dont yet have the phone. Smiley i hope im able to help some

go into your phone settings and "mount" the drive
here is a basic way i found on how to do it:
# Connect the USB data cable to the device and a laptop or PC
# After the USB icon appears in the Notification Drawer (on your phone), pull it down
# Tap USB Connected > Mount

if you have a windows(i have vista) computer all you have to do is click start>all programs>accesories>systemtools>system restore
when the window pops up click next> choose a reset point that is before you plugged the phone into the computer>click next> choose the drive>click next>verify your selection and click finish.
This can take any where from 5 min to 20 depending on your hard drive size and speed of your computer. Hope this helps.

System restore... that's a drastic way to do it. I'd try something simpler first. Have you tried rebooting the computer / phone?

Try this...

Go to Settings -> Applications -> Development and turn off the USB debugging.

Then connect the usb cable and you should get the notification which will allow you to mount the phone's SD card.

i think you're going to need to go into device manager on your windows pc and reinstall the driver since you told windows not to check for the driver next time.

I am running an older OS so if it's looking for drivers/software...what does that mean? Do I need to upgrade to get them?

ok it's not that old..windows xp prof...thought it was older. The system restore worked. Here's where I am..

Plugged the phone into the computer
the Found New Hardware Wizard initiated and couldn't install hardware bc the wizard couldn't locate software.

So now what do I do? I need the drivers it sounds like...right? I unchecked the box btw

Did you ever check to make sure the "usb debugging" was turned off (unchecked)?
