Okay, this is crazy but I don't know if I'm missing something or if this phone has left off a very basic function. I have set up a POP 3 e-mail account on the phone and I get all my e-mails with no problem. The issue is that when setting up the account you only have three options for deletion: Never; After 7 Days; or When I Delete from Inbox. My old phone had similar set up as Outlook in windows where you could delete after 1 day. It also allowed you to delete multiple messages at once. Unless I'm missing something I have to manually delete each e-mail individually from my inbox but then it goes to the trash folder where again you have to delete each message individually. Why isn't there a "Delete ALL' message function? Is their a way to highlight multiple e-mails and then delete them? This is very frustrating- please help if any one has an answer.  (I get about 100 e-mails per day so you can understand my frustration with this).

when i delete the emails, they go to the trash folder, but i cannot permanently delete them from the trash folder - it is filling up.

i just have to leave all my emails in the outbox of my moment so when i do pull them off the server and into outlook on my desktop they will be removed from my outbox on my moment...

I found that you can delete mesages in the trash folder by opeing up this folder and then if you hold down a e-mail in the folder a window will pop up and give you the option to delete it. Still a pain in the rectum but at least I can delete them. You said the e-mails will delete from the trash folder on your phone once they're removed from the server but I don't think this is correct. Does this work for you?

I'd like to reopen this topic, since it looks like some questions weren't answered.

I set the phone to 'delete when I delete from inbox,' but it ISN'T working. And when there are a bunch of junk emails in there, I'd sure like it to start working. Anyone else have an issue with this, or can chime in with how to fix? Specifically, I have the EMail app set up using hotmail, via a POP3. Or however you'd liguistically say that.

When I delete them from the trash folder they show right back up.  Cant find any settings about what to do with them to permanently delete them.  I just went to my AOL account and emptied my trash bin from there.  Also my spam folder.  Opened email back up and they are all gone.  So the email app is just a mirror of my AOL and to truly delete the emails they must be deleted from the actual account.

My email is similarly set up like your's, except my mail account is a comcast account, not an AOL account. It doesn't matter if I clean the TRASH folder in my Comcast account, I cannot get the TRASH folder on my Moment to clean out. Get this: If I do a long hold on an email, a menu comes up with a DELETE option. I select it. The email goes away for 2 seconds, then pops right back into the trash folder. If I immediately follow the same procedure, it goes away for good. Each individual email in my trash folder needs to be deleted twice for it to really delete.

I also have an issue where this phone WILL NOT delete emails from my Comcast account even though I have the option selected "Delete email from server when I delete from Inbox".

Lastly, this phone is extremely unreliable with delivering email. My settings are set to check for email every 5 minutes, but I could go all day without a single email being delivered. When I open the email app, it starts downloading the emails. Very upsetting if I am relying on 24 hour access to my email for business purposes.

Anyone have a suggestion for a better email solution?

At first I shrugged my shoulders at you, ddeliajr, because my phone was good at getting the email. My gmail notifications come through fine, and the hotmail was working fine... until... something. (Not sure if this is related, but) I downloaded Advanced Task Killer and I think I killed my hotmail and now I get zero notifications and am experiencing the same thing you are. Does anyone know of a solution??

ddeliajr I have the same issues with my hotmail account.  Both with receiving and deleting emails.  It is very frustrating.  I tried removing the task panel app but that didnt fix anything.  I went to the sprint store, they have no idea.  I was told the new software is coming out the middle of Jan but they couldn't tell me if this would correct the problem.

Did you find a solution?

Removing the Task Panel app worked for me. I could then reload it and choose to "ignore" E-Mail and it still works and I get the notifications. It took a day or so after removing the ATK before the notification started coming, though. Has it ever worked for you? For me, it worked, then stopped, then I got it going again.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I never did find a solution to get my POP3 account to work properly. I still have all of the same issues. Mail does not delete from the server when I delete on the phone, mail sits in the trash folder and can't be deleted, etc.
Yet I needed to be able to quickly and reliably get my email for work purposes. It was recommended to me that I use the native email application on the phone, so I started using google mail (gmail). It was a pain in the butt to inform all my contacts to switch to a new email address, but now I get my email.
I must say though that the google mail is NOT the most user friendly email app I have ever used.

With the exception of the double delete, which I haven't tried, this pretty much sums up my frustration with my Optimum pop3 account on the phone. This includes the check e-mail every 5 minutes setting. It seems to be hit or miss. My phone was dropped off at the Sprint store this AM for the firmware update. I mentioned the e-mail issue. I will report back if they actually have anything to say about it.

Hi, I have also encountered a deleting email issue. At another forum, I saw a comment that I tried and it worked. It is a bit time consuming but I was able to delete them. Here is the process that works for me. 1. Delete the message in the Inbox. 2. Go to the Trash. 3. Delete a message. 4. Immediately go back and delete it a second time.
On my phone that does it and it goes away.

Then I discovered that since I get my email from Time Warner Cable, I went to Settings and turned off sync with gmail. I went back to the trash. I can just delete them one at a time. This worked for me as well.

Since you use gmail these may not work for you.
