Anyone seen the "here file file" app for at&t? I'm really hoping there is one or will be one like it for Android. If it does what it is supposed to do I'd love to have something like it.

Can you provide details as to what the app does for those of us that are not familiar with the app?

Here is a link to the site for it: http://herefilefile.com/
In a nutshell, it allows iphone users to access their Mac to view, play, share, and email files no matter where they are.

oohh....wow......

well personally i haven't tried any apps that do that........but you can check these out:

http://www.androidtapp.com/remote-rdp/

http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.xtralogic.android.rdpclient

these are not free but you might want to look into those and see if they are worth the price.....

the are called "remote desktop client" and "remote rdp"....you should be able to find them on the market.....i believe there's even a demo version of this.....

hope this helps.....

Thanks for the links. They don't seem to be quite what I was looking for. Looks like they are more for "business" rather than "pleasure" so to speak. The "here file file" app is more for just accessing the music files, video files, etc. that are on your Mac so you can play them on an iphone. I guess it's kind of like having a "virtual hard drive" on your iphone which would be very handy, not to mention very cool!

Still doesn't look like what I'm looking for. Gmote apparently only lets you control files on your computer from your phone to watch them on your computer. Here file file apparently lets you access the files on your computer so that they play on your phone, from anywhere, not just at home. The developers are supposed to be working on one for Windows PCs but I was hoping there was already something like it for Android devices. Maybe there isn't. I'll keep searching. If you run across anything else that looks like it  though keep posting it here. Thanks.  Smiley

But do you have to be within range of your computer's wifi for it to work or can you do it from anywhere? That's what the one for the iphone lets you do. And does the gmote only support audio files or can it do video too? Unless I missed it when I read about it, the gmote didn't mention video files.

Yep, I looked at sugarsync too. Still hard to tell from descriptions of these apps if they do what I'm looking for. Some seem to do part of it but don't go into enough detail or describe it enough. Guess I'll end up having to install and uninstall several ones to find what I want. That's going to be a pain. Not to mention some won't be free and I don't want to buy several and turn right around and end up having to get a refund on them because they didn't work either. The search continues...

Nope you do not need to be within range. In fact this is what I use to stream my music from my computer over 3g to my phone. Works really good and because of it, I feel no need to by a 32gb card for my moment right now. You can even stream movies you have on your computer  Cheesy

Its fairly easy to setup if you follow the instructions but if you run into bumps let me know

Thank you for the reply and the info. This one and "orblive" seem to be 2 apps that may work for me. I'll give them a try. And I agree on the part about not wanting to have to get a large capacity card. That's one of the reasons I wanted to find an app like this. Although I just bought a 16GB micro SD, lol, but I got it for a good price and had been wanting one anyway. So how is playback and video/audio quality for you when using this? Thanks.

Well when used over the air is fairly quick. My files will load and play after 10 seconds or so of buffering. Its a really good app considering it is still on its beta stage. Just make sure you enable port fowarding and follow the instructions and you should be fine.

Orblive and phonemypc are two others I'm looking at. I emailed the developer of phonemypc and he responded very quickly which is a good sign. It doesn't support sound at the moment but he said it should within a couple of updates (few more weeks).
