Not sure how to describe this but since we are all Moment owners I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about. The top part of my phone, the screen part which slides up to reveal keyboard, wiggles a bit when closed. This is my first slider phone so I don't know if this is normal or not. I thought of taking it back to the store to tell them but I doubt any of them own a Moment and they would just say "that's normal" to keep from having to exchange it.

OK. I don't feel so bad now. Guess I'm just not used to it. I've had mine since last Thursday. So is it normal for it to get like that in a few days?

if you are pushing down(like you are trying to open it upside down) there should be little to no wiggle. now opening it normal will produce about a MM of lift befor the other side starts sliding up. as far as the "oreo" effect i have maybe a MM or MM and a half of movement. hope this is descriptive enough

Thanks. That sounds like a pretty good description. As far as "wiggle," I'd say it's about a mm or so. I should point out though that I barely try to "wiggle" or move the screen half of the phone when I notice the looseness. Also, picture you're holding your phone right side up with the screen facing you: take your finger and thumb and place them on the top and bottom of the phone respectively. When my phone "wiggles" the top part moves to the left and the bottom part to the right, as in a counterclockwise motion if it were to actually go all the way. Now that is  really descriptive, lol! Does this sound like what you guys' phones are doing or sound normal? Thanks again.

yup about as normal as you are going to get. The hinge on the Moment is probably the most robust i have seen in a slider.

That's good to know. I'll stop worrying now  Tongue. Now I just need to decide on which phone insurance to get in case it really does screw up. Guess it will either be Sprint's insurance or Radio Shack.

In my humble opinion go with Sprints. its a 100 dollar deductable to replace the phone. also if it is something that is easily fixable. they will fix it for you.  Must admit is that i am not familiar with the radio shack insurance. Please enlighten me so i know for future questions.

Not completely sure what RadioShack's insurance is, but Sprint's is quite worthwhile.

I thought Samsung's insurance sounded pretty good too. Especially the full coverage. I'll look into theirs and Radio Shacks more and I can give a little info on what R.S. insurance consists of.

Radio Shack associate here.Policy on phones is always a repair plan, but lately I've been seeing some of the lower end phones with Replacement Plans

Replacement Plan: Basically, you call a number, tell them it's defective, give them a ton of info they already have, they send you a shipping label, you mail it to them, they send you a gift card with the amount you paid so you can re-buy what you lost. As you can see, this would be infeasible for many of the newer or contract phones, such as the moment. This sually applies to pre-paid phones, when I see it ona  hpone at all.

Replacement plans usually have a 1 yr or 2 yr option, and can run from $3 all the way up to $75 or a little more on big items.

Repair Plan: This is what I see on phones, and it usually runs between $75 and $129 for nicer contract phones. It works like this: You call a number on a brochure, tell them somethings wrong, try and determine what problem is, if it is defective or needs repair, they send you a shipping label. You send it to them, they fix it you pick it up at a Radio Shack near you or they send it to your house. Alternately, you can send it from a  radio shack to start with. Usually repairs are done in a couple of weeks, but I've seen bad ones take as long as 6 weeks. TV's and computers and such.

Honestly, the plans are good, and they cover more than one repair/replacement. Also, if you have to have a lot of repairs or all your items end up being defective or some other unfortunate steam of events occurs, you can usually finagle some sort of discount/free upgrade out of the situation.  Wink

Oh, also, the plans, both repair and replacement cover bad batteries and a bad battery replacement. I think. Our policies change a lot, so don't quote me on that. I always end up reading our company newsletter each morning to find some other major change has happened to our wireless policies. Sheesh!  Roll Eyes

Hope some of this helps.

Good to have some input from a Radio Shack (or should I say "The Shack")  employee  Wink.
One of my main concerns is, what if I have to send my phone in for repair/replacement and don't have another phone to use in the meantime, which I don't? Do I get a loaner phone to use until I get mine back or replaced?

Thats one of the main reasons i'd use the sprint insurance... takes less than 3 days to get your replacement phone.

But what would you do in the meantime if you don't have another phone?
