MP4 Woes

I use a SD card adapter to load music on my phone. Recently I downloaded a move in the .mp4 format and attempted to play it. However when I look on the phone, it goes from 400mb to 0kb and, of course, doesn't play.

-I verified it loads on the sd card and plays on my PC.
-I have more then enough space on the card.
-I am properly powering off/on the phone.
-I plug the SD card back into my computer and it shows 0kb there.

Am I missing something? All help guides and internet searches have yielded no results.

maybe it needs to be formatted for the moments screen size and or the file type isnt recognized?? also other files such as mp3's work from the sd card right??

there is a thread somewhere here about converting videos to play on the moment
