My 1st moment had all the glitches you've read on this forum. I took it back to best buy and it was replaced on the spot. My 2nd unit did exactly the same thing, Best buy said I needed to take it to sprint and get the software updated.  I went to sprint, had the software updated. The problems got worse. (battery life, airplane mode, etc etc). Brought it back to best buy. They said they'd need to send it to their repair center. Ok, here I am, 17 days later without a replacement, their website still says my phone is waiting to be assigned to a technician. WTF?! I have sent an email to the geek squad, I have called the store and they all tell me the same thing the website says. Had I gone to sprint with their protection, if they can't fix it in an hour, they replace it. I don't see an advantage to black tie service. Do you?  Any suggestions are welcome.

my suggestion would have been to get it at radioshack...  within your first 30 days, they can (and will) swap the phone out as many times as needed (and can flash the update) until you get one that works...  after your first 30, doesn't matter where you take it unless it's a sprint repair center within your first year, they'll swap it within your manufacturer's warranty...  after your first year, unless you have insurance, you're SOL.

I appreciate the prompt reply. Hindsight is indeed 20-20. I hope I kept my sprint insurance even though I got black tie. As soon as they return that phone I am cancelling black tie.  Thanks again.

My only experience with a Best Buy warranty was a huge waste of money. Got it for a PC and over the course of the warranty I had a couple of problems and took it to BB. 1. They could not repair it in store. 2. If I let them send it off to be (hopefully) repaired I think it would have been at least 2-3 weeks before I got it back. 3. Turns out I was able to fix it myself both times. I waited till the 30th day to purchase the Sprint's insurance. Hope I never need it to use it but if I do, it better be worth it.

I haven't heard of that. What I was told is that if they can't repair the phone I should have a replacement within 24 hours. But what you are saying is that if I take my phone to a Sprint store and they can't repair it within one hour they will replace it on the spot? Sounds almost too good to be true lol.

Can you clarify a bit more for me please? I'm a bit confused. I bought the Sprint insurance. So are you saying even without the insurance if I have a problem with my phone within the first year I can just take it to a Sprint store (or did you mean I can take it to Radio Shack also?) and they will repair/replace it for free? Thanks.

the black tie service is a scam imho....i have canceled it and gone back with sprints tep.....best buy had my phone for like 21 days and it came back unfixed, to me it seemed like they didnt even open it.....i killed the camera flash, sure it was my fault but i paid for service to cover crap like that.....only thing i could do was send it in AGAIN and wait AGAIN....they REFUSE to give a refund on any amount you have paid on the black tie service my cc company refunded me 1 month! i wish a class action suit could be filed, but i am happy now back with sprints tep which i should have done from day one

samsung would cover it for a year under the manufacturer warranty, but that just covers manufacturer defects.....no physical damage

first year is a manufacturer's warranty.  a sprint store can service you (within the confines of that warranty) within the first year.  however, if you do something that the manufacturer won't cover, you're SOL without insurance.

There is no physical damage to the moment. It was protected by a body glove and an invisishield. The issue is hardware/software that we've all seen on these boards. The phone was pristine and only several weeks old.  When I previously went to sprint under the tep pan, if they could not fix the phone in 60 minutes it was replaced on the spot with a new or refurb unit. If one was not in stock, it was shipped overnight. Originally there was no deductable, now I believe it is 35 or 50 dollars. At BB there is no deductable but they make you pay 150.00 for a loaner phone and the amount is credited back to you once your phone is repaired. I still had my blackberry 8330 so they did an ESN swap, Here I am 18 days later with no moment. I'm going to the store tomorrow to try and speak to a manager.  This is just wrong and bad customer service.

I went back to best buy today and explained that despite the estimated completion date of 3/29, it's been a little longer for them to just tell me oh, it's just been shipped to the factory for repair. I said to them I asked them to replace my phone now because it's been more than enough time. The manager said I'd have to wait a full 30 days then they could decide whether to replace my phone or not.  I a pretty ticked that a phone that cost this much and black tie service is nothing but a money sucking gotcha. At this point I would not suggest best buy black tie service for anyone period.
