I don't know if anyone has seen this. But dang, i sure hope we can get this update. It has all the built in features that the phone is missing. Update all on market, built in Wi-Fi hotspot. And it's all around faster.

even IF the moment were to get 2.2, would wifi hotspot be possible? does it have the hardware capability?

When you say "wifi hotspot" are you referring to wireless tethering?

if so....check this out.........:

no.....hardware manufacturers want you to buy new hardware eventually

planned obsolescence

G1?  ::Shrugs::

the android devs have said the G1 wouldnt get it, but im sure the xda guys will horseshoe it in.....same as 2.1 now, but that is not supported by the devs or manufacturers....the OP asked if we would "get" 2.2 i took that as officially not hacked together

http://www.gadgetsdna.com/android-2-2-froyo-on-t-mobile-g1-htc-dream-mytouch-3g-htc-magicsapphire/3473/

"build it and they <the xda dudes in this case> will come"

The evo already got a port too, which is ridiculous when you think about it. Its not even officially available to the public for a few more hours!

no wifi hotspot as in broadcasting of a wifi signal that devices can connect with, i.e. computers, ps3, what have you

my bad, i saw that was called 'wifi tethering' and i assumed that was just using the phone as a bridge to connect non wifi componnets to wifi (like a  wifi usb stick)...thats what i get for assuming things Roll Eyes

I would love to have 2.2 from what I have read. It is supposed to allow wi-fi tethering as well as Flash. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/apple/android-22-lays-down-the-gauntlet-includes-wifi-tethering/6943?tag=nl.e539

Features include:
•Adobe Flash 10.1
•apps on microSD
•a JIT compiler
•faster V8 javascript engine
•(optional) automatic app updates
•OpenGL ES 2.0
•a new one-handed camera UI
•revamped Google voice search, and
•desktop to handset music streaming

Noobnl's newest Radioactive Eclair has a lot of these things along with built in wifi.  I used my phone as a wifi singal for my laptop yesterday just to try it, worked great until the rado shut off  Roll Eyes  The ROM itself works great so far, even though I have no idea what some of the stuff is that is included in it or what it does.

As for 2.2, people are already talking about it on SDX, so I'm sure it'll be out for use soon enough.  Someone will always find a way.  I also installed an app that allows me to connect to phone's SD card wirelessly as a web address instead of using the cord and mounting.  More and more cool things are coming out for this phone from those guys over there.

its pretty funny that sdx was created to avoid the noobs here @ smf but now sdx is flooded with noobs and smf is quite  Grin

The only thing I really want is flash.  The market update all would be convenient.  If the G1 can run 2.2  then I'm sure our Moments can handle it.  Hopefully someone ports it soon.

Was that a market app, or through sdx?

we do NOT have flash 10.1, from what i have read in the past the guys @ ams had flash "lite" cooked into a rom but thats not even close....if 10.1 was working on the moment it would be in everyones custom roms

as for android 2.2 (froyo) the hope is once the intercept gets froyo that it will be easily ported to the moment....officially the moment isnt supposed to get froyo
