Installed this morning, and so far I am pleased.

Too soon to say how big of an improvement in battery life this gives, but anything is better...my battery life has been awful since 2.1

I'm running this with no problems whatsoever (save for the earpiece audio glitch in all 2.1 leaks).

I seem to have better battery life, if only marginally.  I love not seeing all the ridiculous Sprint apps, demos, and widgets.

Overall, I would recommend it if you are already running 2.1.

This is the ROM i currently use and it works great. Good mix of speed and battery life conservation. Thanks noobnl.

I love this, so nice and clean! However it is just a little too clean for me. Is there a simple way to get the Sprint Navigation app back without back tracking to the official image, rooting and then saving off the .apk?

What is the difference between build .2 and .3?  If I don't like one or the other, how do I return to the stock 2.1 w/o completely flashing the phone and having to reload all my apps..again Smiley

easy way would be to just reflash the 2.1 upgrade.  But you want basically "undo" this particular rom, correct?  I'm sure there is a "stock" or basic rom that can put it back to how it was with just the Sprint 2.1 upgrade.

edit:  sorry, I just thoroughly read your post.  maybe there is something you can do in the recovery menu.  otherwise, I don't know.  But I'm running this (noobnl's) de03 rom, and it works great.  I wouldn't change it until noobnl comes out with a better one.

Sorry if it's been mentioned, but what EXACTLY has been added and removed.  I don't even know what all this DE03, DE10, etc stuff means.  At the moment I just want a lighting fast phone and to have apps to run from SD so it doesn't bog the phones speed due to lack of memory.

De03 is the only version you should concern yourself with as it is the official release from Sprint. Apps2sd does absolutely nothing to speed up your phone...it just gives you more space for apps. Noobs rom is definately the fastest rom out. and if you couple it with Joeykrims custom kernel not only willl it be quicker it will also have better battery life than stock.

I see two versions of noobnl's ROM's on this thread, so which one is the one to use .2 or .3?  I've never rooted a phone yet, with the closest custom thing I've done is to add live wallpapers.  It seems one of his ROM's already includes Live Wallpapers, and doesn't one include SETCPU also...I think I'd like to try that to make the phone faster as well.  I'm sure it's easier than I'm thinking it is, but at this point I don't wanna risk bricking my phone.

1.2.3 is the newest and in the op. and yes it is easy to add as long as you have one of the custom recoverys on your phone.

I see the Sprint Navigator missing after installing this.  I use this app as a backup GPS.  I have my old phone backed up but I cant find the apk file(s) for this to restore it.  Any hints?

Thanks for the hack! Grin  Works great!

I realize running apps from the SD isn't necessarily going to make the phone run faster, but I would assume it's not going to slow anything down either.  I'm guessing this is why noobnl deleted some of these stock apps...useless and they we're taking up space, which in turn makes the phone faster.

So I just did Noobnl's ROM about an hour ago, and everything seems fine so far.  From that the OP said, I didn't have to backup my phone, and it appears everything is still there.  If I am going to do Joey's custom kernal, is a backup required here at all?

I wrote down a list of all the apps when the phone was brand new as a 1.5, a 2.1 and ones that I have chosen to install myself.  I'd still like to know, in detail, what these custom ROM's and kernals add, remove, etc.
for my own FYI and maybe others FYI as well.

Its always good to backup your phone just in case.  But I have joeykrim's custom kernel, and everything went smoothly.  All it does is tweak some system things and change your startup screen, etc.  all my settings, home screen stuff, etc was intact after the flash.

first of all.....i haven't tried noobnl's rom....

but I have apps2sd and at least in my phone and it speed up the phone tremendously....

i guess you have to consider that I was running low on space (about 10% free left) and I have a ton of apps installed......around 120+ apps.....this may be a big reason why I noticed such a huge increase in speed.......

so anyway....just wanted to get that out there.....carry on Tongue
